We have different operating hours for different businesses. Generally, they are:

  • Banks , private offices and government agencies: Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm

  • Malls, supermarkets cinema, spa, salons and commercial hubs: Monday to Sunday, 11am–10pm

  • Wet Markets “Palengke”: Monday to Sunday, 4/5am–6pm

  • Restaurants: Monday to Sunday, 10am – 10pm

  • Cafes: Monday to Sunday, 5am -9pm

  • Bars, Pubs and Late Night Spots: Monday to Sunday, 6pm-2am (or onwards on Fridays and Saturdays)

There are certain establishments running 24/7 like convenience stores, pharmacies and other brands of gyms, fast food restaurants and café chains.

Some smaller businesses take 1 day off a week. Depending on the nature of the business, day-offs are usually on Mondays after a busy weekend or some on Sundays for personal weekend / family time off.

Yet, it’s very different in the Provinces and the countryside!

What is written above is anyway mostly valid for cities and major tourism destinations of the Philippines. Most business establishments in the provinces tend to close as the sun goes down (around 5:30-6pm) as they are more laid back and have quieter evenings as majority stays home.

Then, of course, there would be restaurants open for dinner in the more “touristy” areas of the provinces to serve visiting travellers. Though it is better to not go too late to avoid finding restaurants closed, also considering that dinner time in the Philippines is generally from 5.30-7.30pm.
