Tropical Experience Travel Services - Tours of the Philippines
For several years already, we have organized trips to the Philippines for all different ages. We noticed that quite a big number of people writing us are in their “senior” years, meaning those 50 years old and above. Most of the time, they are the kind of traveller that are very satisfied when accompanied when going around the country and gives us much fulfillment serving them, too. Some of them are accomplished career men and women, top executives, others are near retirement while some are retired already. Whichever phase they are in, what they have in common is the great enthusiasm for the planet and the willingness of having many new experiences.
Let us discover where the enthusiasm comes from.

1.YOU ARE FINANCIALLY STABLE
Even when adapting to the simplest solutions, travelling unavoidably incurs costs. Some or a lot, travelling near or far, even a simple day trip driving our own cars will still cost us in terms of gasoline, meals and more. A 50+ is more likely to have extra savings and doesn’t have to provide for her/his children anymore (or not fully, at least). It’s time enjoy the fruits of your work and afford the holiday you truly deserve. Maybe during those younger days, you’ve always travelled with a tight budget. But now it’s time to pamper yourself with some extra fun and comfort!
2. YOU HAVE MORE FREE TIME
It’s a less venal aspect, but as true as the point # 1: in order to travel, you need free time. But, if you have children to attend to and/or a binding job and other commitments, it is very limiting and will hold you back… When children are older, they have vacations by themselves and the parents suddenly have much more free time for themselves: the ideal situation for having new exciting trips. If you are retired, that’s perfect – no more office schedule to follow and asking approvals from your boss. You can practically travel whenever you like!

3. YOU LIKE TO CHALLENGE YOURSELF
Surely, by getting older, you gain experience and your vision of the world changes. Things you see now are mediated by your self-consciousness and past experiences. You may get less surprised and impressed unlike before. Because of this, many people get a new energy and willingness of discovering exotic places and have unusual experiences, even most tiring and adventurous ones! You like to try new things and you want to be mesmerized like a child. Well, the world is full of wonderful places that can throw you great surprises, they are all waiting for you.
The incredible rice terraces of Banaue.
4. YOU HAVE A DIFFERENT VISION OF THE FUTURE AND OF THE NEXT YEARS OF YOUR LIFE
Well, we can’t turn around this topic: we just have one life and our available time is limited. And this is true for all of us, old or young! But, at 20 years old, your world is full of projects, commitments, errands and work obligations – all for the need to build your life. At 50+ you just want to enjoy and maximize your time on this amazing planet. Knowing you cannot explore it entirely, you try to experience all you can. As Lorenzo “The Magnificient” used to say: chi vuol esser lieto sia, del doman non v’è certezza (“If you want, be happy now; for tomorrow’s never sure”).
5. YOU HAVE MORE FRIENDS
Along with more free time, you also have much more time to enjoy friendships you have accumulated all those years. Many people at this age rediscover the pleasure of having nights partying with friends, of having a sport group, of enjoying new hobbies and interests. Generally, the 50+ crowd dedicate more time to having fun…and there’s so much fun in travelling! It is the right moment to gather your friends and just go discover new places!
6. AT THIS ERA, YOU ARE HEALTHIER
Modern life could have all the problems and complications compared to the simple and easy life of yesteryears. But, it is just a matter of fact that the average life expectation increased a lot already and now you may reach 60 and 70 years old being much more healthy and fit compared to those 60 and 70 year olds of the past generations. This opens new perspectives and gives you many extra available years to complete your “bucket list”! Remember that age is just a number and quite a relative concept when travelling: We had 70+ year old guests that were very fit and were able to do adventures and physically challenging activities that some much younger travellers wouldn’t even want to consider!
7. YOU KNOW WHAT YOU WANT
Yes, and you know how to get them. You already made “mistakes” in the past, maybe having that trip that was not ideal for you, with the wrong people, in the wrong place or in the wrong moment. In travelling, some unexpected things may happen and may even sometimes turn out to be the best part! Experience has already thought you what will satisfy you so now it’s time to do what you want, when you want, with the people you want! Because you know what you want.
At 50+, your travelling days are yet not over. In fact, the fun has just begun!
